SING THE NORTH (STN) is our flagship virtual recording choir. We sing choral music by Canadian composers or other music we love. We take field trips on the STN Virtual Choir Tour Bus to learn more about the people and places we are singing about. Singers submit audio and sometimes video recordings which we use to create our final video performance.
STN Ice is our virtual recording choir for cutting-edge choral music. We sing unusual or innovative pieces that will challenge and inspire you. Singers submit audio recordings that are included in our final video. STN Ice is the natural home of sound lovers.
STN Fridays is our kitchen party choir - really a casual sing-along in the STN Virtual Kitchen in the East-coast folk tradition. There is no music to practice, and nothing to record, but we do send out songsheets and chords in advance of the live sessions in case you'd like to sing and play along. Each kitchen party features a different special guest.
The STN Summer Choir meets in person in the third week of July in beautiful Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island off the West Coast of Canada on Coast Salish Traditional Territory. We gather for a week-long summer choral intensive which culminates in a live performance.
Our choirs are all led by our Artistic Director and conductor, Kathryn Whitney. who works together with videographer and singer Stephen Ross to create our audio and video recordings.
