Join us to sing a joyful song of welcome by Juno award-winning Cree composer, ANDREW BALFOUR
"Come in, you two-legged beings! All are welcome here!"
AMBE is a hugely energetic composition that sends out an uplifting message of welcome to all people from all backgrounds, whatever their traditions and origins.
Hear AMBE sung by the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir under David Fallis here.
The piece is based on an original Ojibway song gifted to Andrew Balfour by traditional drummer and singer Cory Campbell, a member of the Sagkeeng First Nation in Treaty 1 Territory and unceded associated areas in Manitoba. Cory describes the song as
"A call to the people to the ceremonial way of life or to the red road, or quite frankly, to whatever we have going on, because everything happens with spirit and in spirit."
We hope you will join us to sing "welcome!"
